Lenses and Filters
The monocular version of Bottlenose requires one CS-mount lens. The stereo version requires an identical pair of CS-mount lenses. CS-mounts can accommodate S-mount or M12 and C-mount lenses via an adapter.
If the recommendations below do not satisfy your optical requirements, please contact us for assistance.
Lenses
The following are some of the lenses that have been tested by Labforge so far:
- Kowa: KOW-LM12JC, 2/3" 12mm MP C-Mount Lens. Great image quality for close inspection.
- Theia: SL410M and SL1250M. Good for long-range applications.
- Raspberry Pi: PT361060M3MP12, 6mm 3MP Wide Angle Lens. Good for cost-sensitive applications, but image quality suffers.
- M12 Lenses: PT-0420, 4.0mm, F2.0 Board Lens. Good for space-constrained applications.
Lens Adapters
Bottlenose supports CS-mount lenses. C-mount lenses and S-mount lenses can be used with a thread adapter. The following adapters have been tested by Labforge so far:
- Basler CS to C mount adapter
- Basler CS to S mount adapter
IR Cut Filters
Bottlenose does not include a built-in IR cut filter. For colour correctness of outdoor images, we highly recommend using an IR cut filter in your optical setup. We have tested the following lens and filter combination.
Mounting and Installation
CS-Mount Lenses
- Align the thread of the lens with the thread of the lens mount on the Bottlenose.
- Screw in the lens until it securely attaches to the camera.
C-Mount Lenses
- Align the thread of the adapter with the thread of the lens mount on the Bottlenose.
- Screw in the adapter until it securely attaches to the camera.
- Align the thread of the lens with the thread of the adapter and securely screw it into place.
S-Mount Lenses
- Align the thread of the adapter with the thread of the lens mount on the Bottlenose.
- Screw in the adapter until it securely attaches to the camera.
- Loosely screw in the lens to the approximate depth of the focal distance.
Attaching the Filter
For lens models, such as the KOW-LM12JC, 2/3" 12mm MP C-Mount Lens, additional filters can be used.
- Attach a filter adapter to the lens barrel.
- Refocus the lens if needed.
Cleaning
To clean the lens or image sensor surface.
-
Dust Removal:
- Use an oil-free soft brush or a lens blower brush to brush off dust.
-
Removing Water or Oil:
- Wipe away the liquid with dry lens cleaning tissue.
- Moisten the lens-cleaning tissue with lens-cleaning liquid.
- Gently wipe the lens with the moistened tissue, starting from the center and moving outwards in a circular motion.
Focus and Stereo Calibration
